GDSC2026 | China Regional Selection (Ningbo Station) Successfully Concluded!

GDSC2026 | China Regional Selection (Ningbo Station) Successfully Concluded!

On December 8, the four-day GDSC2026 China Regional Selection (Ningbo Stop) came to a successful conclusion. As a digital skills event benchmarking the WorldSkills Competition, the competition was hosted by the International Alliance of Digital Game Education (IADGE), undertaken by Ningbo No.2 Technician College, and co-organized by the Digital Creativity Professional Committee of Shanghai Technician Association. With 3D Digital Game Art as its core competition event, the venue featured fierce technical contests as well as vibrant creative atmosphere.

On December 5, contestants arrived in Ningbo one after another for registration. After collecting event materials, they took the opportunity to interact and get to know each other ahead of the competition. These digital skills enthusiasts from all over the country chatted enthusiastically once the relevant topics came up, creating a lively atmosphere. The competition featured a rich lineup of sessions. Notably, the contest questions incorporated cultural elements of Cicheng Ancient Town, closely integrating field cultural exploration with the official competition.

On the morning of December 6, the organizing committee arranged a cultural study tour for the contestants to Cicheng Ancient Town. Walking along the bluestone paths, they visited time-honored sites with a thousand years of history, including the ancient county government and the Confucian Temple, immersing themselves in the profound historical and cultural heritage of Ningbo. Meanwhile, the contestants also experienced virtual reality cultural tourism projects in the ancient town. All of these provided abundant traditional cultural materials for them to tackle the competition themes featuring ancient town elements and complete their creative works.

From the afternoon of December 6 to December 7, the competition entered its core contest phase. Contestants were required to complete conceptual design, 3D modeling, texture painting, scene rendering and engine module development within the set time, strictly following the technical standards and judging rules of WorldSkills Competition. The venue was filled with the constant clatter of keyboards and strokes on digital drawing screens, as all participants focused intently on their creation.

Adopting a rigorous and responsible attitude, the judges conducted meticulous evaluations of every entry. They not only assessed whether the works had a clear creative logic and stayed true to the cultural theme of Cicheng Ancient Town, but also carried out professional review from the perspective of technical specifications.

The event also specially arranged works exhibition and experience sharing sessions. Contestants took the initiative to display their entries and share creative ideas and practical skills, including how to integrate cultural elements of Cicheng Ancient Town. Other participants listened attentively and asked questions actively, learning from each other’s strengths and making up for shortcomings in communication, fostering a good atmosphere of mutual learning and progress.

With the successful conclusion of the Ningbo Stop, anticipation is growing for the upcoming GDSC2026 Grand Finals in Hong Kong. Everyone looks forward to seeing more outstanding contestants showcase their talents on that stage.
